‘Ask yourself, who can I make smile this morning? This is the art of creating happiness.’ - Thich Nhat Hanh
Hoa Nghiem Buddhist College is a Home for our students, where they learn to cultivate inner happiness and peace. Every day, they experience that their joy becomes contagious when it is rooted in a clear mind and a clear heart. When our students generously embrace the present moment, letting go of the past and not worrying about the future, the vitality of their joy makes everything blossom in its path.
A beautiful story
The song below, Here is the Rose was written in 2020 by Tamara Kuldin, our Head of Wellbeing, during our long weeks of confinement in the context of the Covid epidemic. After creating the melody with Steven, Tamara asked three of our students (Hannah, Kathy and Emmerson) to record their singing of Here is the Rose on Zoom.
The students' voices became like an anchor in which everyone could find comfort during this difficult time. They warmed the hearts of those (students and teachers) who felt down and lonely learning and teaching from home for so long. The tradition at Hoa Nghiem Buddhist College is that singing is a practice that helps us to connect to our inner peace.
